چکیده
The stratum corneum (SC) matrix is composed of free fatty acids, cholesterol and ceramides (CERs), which play a key role in the skin barrier function. effect glycerol/petrolatum-based emollient (G/P-emollient) cream on lipid profile SC reconstructed human epithelial (RHE) model was measured. spatial organization intercellular studied using X-ray diffraction. inter-bilayer distance multi-lamellar structures lattice type were analyzed small-angle scattering (SAXS) wide-angle (WAXS), respectively. crystallized components G/P-emollient are lipids, mainly packed hexagonal orthorhombic lattices, similar to structure. penetrated but did not alter WAXS profile. It increased long chain length CERs, all acyl-CERs, acyl-CER classes (CER EOS, EOH, EOP, EOdS) total CER classes, decreased short C34 for hydroxylated non-hydroxylated CERs. had positive impact [S] [P] forms (increased [NP]/[NS] [AP]/[AS] ratios), indicating it could help reduce relative feedback mechanism observed inflammatory pathologies e.g., atopic dermatitis. CER[NP], dry skin. In conclusion, can balance negative by modifying balancing levels ratios, improving Importantly, structure mimics that lower layers without compromising its lamellar

A Novel Method for Skin Lesion Segmentation
Skin cancer has been the most usual and illustrates 50% of all new cancers detected each year. If they detected at an early stage, treatment can become simple and economically. Accurate skin lesion segmentation is important in automated early skin cancer detection and diagnosis systems. The aim of this study is to provide an effective approach to detect the skin lesion border on a purposed imag...

متن کاملSkin lipids: an update.
The stratum corneum lipids, responsible for the epidermal water barrier, consist principally of ceramides, cholesterol, cholesteryl sulfate, and free fatty acids. These lipids are arranged in multiple intercellular lamellae that provide an efficient water barrier because of the crystalline array of the straight and predominantly saturated lipid chains. Interlamellar linkages provided by lipids ...
متن کاملA review on nutrition and skin aging
Background: Skin reflects the general health status and is not an exception in the process of aging. Intervention studies indicate that it is possible to delay skin aging and improve skin conditions through diet-based anti-aging strategies. The purpose of the current work was to review recent existing literature regarding the role of nutrition, for and against skin aging processes.Method: This ...
متن کاملThe use of emollient therapy for ageing skin.
Skin ageing has intrinsic signs and symptoms, often complicated by extrinsic photo-ageing symptoms and concurrent disease processes. It progresses with age but varies between individuals and its symptoms are numerous. Skin ageing has physical and psychosocial repercussions that can influence coping. Emollient therapy can help to reduce two symptoms--dryness and loss of the skin's barrier functi...
